  • CLEAN WORKSPACE

For best results you want to work in front of a flow hood or work in a still air box. If you do not have access to either, any well cleaned space can be used but the rate of contamination is increased. To clean your work area properly by spraying all surface area with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Let sit on surface until dry before wiping dry with a clean paper towel.

*Remember if your liquid culture has been stored in refrigeration, take it out several hours before you intend to use it. Certain species like pink oysters should not be refrigerated.

Put on gloves and clean with isopropyl.

Remove your culture syringe from the bag, point cap up and then unscrew cap from your liquid culture syringe pointing up. Open the packaging for the needle and with the protective needle cap still in place screw it onto the culture syringe.

Sterilize the needle with alcohol burner or a lighter.

If the culture doesn’t look uniform, you may shake for a few seconds to disperse the mycelium. Your now ready to inoculate a sterile substrate by inserting into a self-healing injection port on a jar or bag of sterile substrate.

Administer at the rate of 2.5ml/cc-5ml/cc to approximately 3lbs of sterile substrate.

If you have liquid culture left, replace the cap over the needle and store in the bag in the fridge for future use. Liquid culture will keep for an average of two months.
